Tipping Point (Renaissance)

Tipping Point (Renaissance) explores the removal of vegetation in our cities to make way for developments and reflects on how plant life might continue in these often-sterile spaces.

The slanted branch, clear glass circles and outlined copper-wire petals bear witness to what has toppled. These represent the remnants of plants past.

They contrast with the baroque excess of the glass and copper flowers and handstitched superpositions of lace. These copper, glass and lace details speak of what happens in the interstices, between pavers and green bins, where rebirth, flourishing and proliferation occur.

The work celebrates plants’ resilience, as fragile or subtle as it might be.
